Cradle-to-Gate

Covers all emissions from raw material extraction to the point a product reaches your facility. It is especially relevant when calculating a PCF. This process of defining which stages of a product´s value chain you are considering is called: Definition of system boundaries.

Bonus information: If you are receiving a PCF from your supplier also check the system boundaries. Is it cradle-to-gate? If not, maybe the PCF might not be comparable to other PCFs, because your other PCFs might also include transportation.
